The latest entry in Universal’s blockbuster action franchise has been dated for April 14, 2017, the studio said in its presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.
"We’re going to make the best movie you’ve ever seen," said Vin Diesel when announcing the news.
The seventh entry in the franchise has already broken box office records worldwide, nabbing more than $1.1 billion (£727 million) globally so far.
Furious 7 marks Universal’s first film to achieve $1 billion during its initial release, with 1993’s Jurassic Park having reached $1.044 billion after the 3D re-release in 2013. Furious 7 has earned an estimated $857.9 million overseas and an estimated $300.5 million in North America.
During a presentation on Thursday, Universal also revealed that the Fifty Shades of Grey sequels will hit theatres in Feb. 2017 and 2018.
